Well, hello! My name is Michelle.

I currently live, work, and play in Guatemala as the programs manager of the Adventures in Missions long-term base in Antigua.

I was born and raised in Florida, receiving my bachelor of arts degree in English Literature from the University of Central Florida in December 2013. (Go Knights!) Some of my hobbies include playing guitar, going thrifting, reading memoirs, snapping photos on my iPhone, and wandering art exhibits or museums.

I am a first-generation American – both sets of my grandparents fled Cuba after the Revolution while my parents were still children. I’ve spent my life living across both cultures and languages, deeply cherishing both my citizenship and my heritage.

I moved to Guatemala just six weeks after graduating college to serve as an intern with the long-term base for 6 months. I had two suitcases, one plane ticket, and zero plans. A few weeks after settling in, God confirmed in my heart that he was indeed inviting me to remain in Guatemala indefinitely. Years later, I’m still here!

As the programs manager of our ministry, I oversee our women’s ministry, community development projects, and outreach programs. I also assist with logistical planning for our monthly ministry trainings with our partner churches – all in an effort to help send Guatemalans to the nations! The Great Commission is for all believers, and I feel so blessed to be a part of the movement of radical surrender that is taking the world by storm.

Life here is certainly never boring! The day-to-day always looks a bit different, but I am so thankful to be a part of a vibrant ministry and community. Don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d love to get to know you!

With love (and tamales),

Michelle
